From November 2 to 6 October 2016, the first edition of the BAHIA INDEPENDENT CINEMA FESTIVAL (BINCIF) was held. More than 2,000 spectators participated in the various exhibitions that took place during the week.
Completely free workshops were also held at the Federal University of Bahia, and at the School of Audiovisual Technology, where more than 200 students participated.
There were also outdoor screenings in various sectors of the city. More than 70 short films from more than 25 countries were screened. On November 6, the winners were announced, in whose ceremony more than 200 people participated.

Best Documentary Feature film: Lions apartheid. Mohammed Drouin. Canada
Best  LGBT Feature Film: Born Sinful. Taylor Carter. USA
Best Horror Feature film: X project. Selly Arzamasaba. Russia
